New, complex activity optimisation methodology supports dispatch companies

2014.12.09.

DIGITAL Kft. has been awarded a non-repayable grant of almost HUF 105 million under the call for proposals “Support for market-oriented research and development activities” within the New Széchenyi Plan. The investment, with a total budget of almost HUF 150 million, has delivered a complex activity optimisation methodology.

The aim of the project was the research and development of a unique, complex methodology and supporting system that can automate optimal vehicle dispatching for service providers (primarily taxi companies). The methodology takes several factors into account – for example minimising customer waiting times, spreading the workload evenly among drivers, and the factors that influence these.

Applying the methodology makes fleet logistics and operations more efficient and effective, and can provide additional services to customers.

Using the research results, service companies can build a security system that immediately identifies a vehicle's location in an emergency, which can significantly shorten the time it takes for help to arrive. The complexity of the method is unique not only from the companies' point of view; it also offers personalised services to customers.

The primary target users of the activity optimisation methodology and system are taxi companies, but with further development the results can also be applied effectively by other dispatch-based service providers (couriers, food delivery, logistics and freight companies).
